I strongly proclaim to you the truth of God our Father. It is by
grace that we are saved through faith in Jesus Christ. How great is the
love of the Father that he has lavished upon us. Neither death nor
life, famine nor hardship, nor anything in this creation shall ever
separate us from the love of God in that is in Christ Jesus. He is good
and his love endures forever!
The righteous man has no fear of bad news. I will grieve deeply but not
without the love of God my Father.
Those are the words of Kevin Verett, earlier this week, shortly after he learned that his son Keller had been killed in a tragic accident. How is it possible to testify to the goodness of God after such a horrible tragedy? And that, two and half years after the death of his sweet wife Kathy. It is a mystery and a beautiful testimony that a risen Lord Jesus Christ is alive in this man of God. I am incredibly humbled and encouraged by his words.
Today there will be a memorial service and on Monday, the burial of a son, a brother, and a friend. Being so many miles away, I feel helpless to do anything to show my support for this precious family. But I will pray today, throughout the day, all day.
Lord, fold your arms around the Veretts today
and hold them securely to your breast.
Make yourself known to them today.
Be God to them!
And show yourself faithful.
Cry and moan with them
Share the misery, the loneliness, the hollowness, the hatred of death with them.
And tenderly wipe away their tears with your gentle touch
Be God to them!
And show yourself Faithful.
Look upon this holy man of God--He is your child
He continually shows himself faithful
Though his world crashes around him
He looks to You and speaks only of your goodness and kindness
Have mercy, Lord.
Speak love and healing on him and on his family.
Be God to them!
And show Yourself faithful.
The Body of Christ calls out to you
We are desperate for You.
Come now!
