Last weekend Clint was away on a camping trip so I had the kids by myself to entertain. I thought about going on a ferry to a new place. I even thought about making a quick trip to the states. I am missing the ol' U.S. of A. In the end we decided to take a trip downtown to Beacon Hill Park where there is a petting zoo everyone in town loves. The kids really liked it, but I was less than impressed. Come on, a few goats, a potbelly pig, some rabbits, a donkey and her baby, an aviary of finches, ducks, chickens, and probably the coolest -- a couple of alpacas. Oh yeah and there were peacocks everywhere. They were kind of nifty to look at. But really, it's nothing much more than a livestock show in Texas. There weren't even any horses or cows. The kids did love getting to pet the goats. Malcolm wanted to pull their tails. After we finished with the zoo, we strolled over to a park that also had a fountain for cooling off. It was only about 70 degrees so the "cooling off" wasn't all that necessary, but it was obvious that everyone wanted to welcome summer by playing in the water. Ethan watched a long time just yearning to get wet, but we hadn't worn our swimsuits. Finally, I relented and let him play a bit. He liked stepping on the spout and holding back the spray with his foot. I had a bit of trouble getting them away from the water area. Then we meandered through Beacon Hill Park in search of the legendary Beacon Hill Drive-In. We found it and ordered some chicken, fries and their famous ice cream cones. We ate outside and enjoyed our treats. Then we went home for a nap. Later, that day the kids got me back out to play in the sand at Beaver Lake. By the end of the day I was pooped. But we had a great day of fun.

As annoying as spam comments are, I laughed out loud as the contradictions in the lotto 649 results comments.
What a fun day! It sounds (and looks) like you guys had a blast!
I seem to get those frequently. Is there someone on the other side of the world coming up with those things are how does it happen? Whoever or whatever it is, there is obviously a lacking in English skills.
So, I just asked Ben, "do you want to see pictures of Ethan and Laurel?" He replied, "In Canada?" I said, "yes" and clicked on your blog. His response, "I think I've already seen those." Of course I had to confirm that he had. WE would love to see new pictures of our dear sweet friends. You should have Aaron take a picture of the five of you while he is there. Then of course you could post it. :) Love and miss you! -maria (and Ben)
We are looking forward to seeing you guys..........Annie and I were driving to Danny and Patti's on Saturday when out of the blue she says, "Mommy, I miss Laurel." I told her, "I do too.I'm so glad we get to see her very soon."
We love you guys. -maria
