It goes without saying that my family and I will dearly miss our family, our church, and our friends as we move in a few weeks. So I didn't put any of those things on my list of things I will and things I will not miss about good ol' Waco, TX. Are there any things you can think of to add to either list?
Top 10 Things I will not miss about Waco
10. New Road from Valley Mills Drive through Franklin Ave.
9. All the big trucks that take up more than one parking space.
8. Hearing gun shots at night, then helicopters flying overhead
7. The lack of pedestrian friendly streets and no sidewalks
6. hearing about how Baylor lost another football game.
5. All the molds and weeds that make allergies unbearable
4. Interstate 35
3. Outrageous health care costs (though this is countrywide)
2. The 100 degree heat 9 months out of the year
1. My husband's demeanor as he experiences the 100 degree heat 9 months out of the year.
Top 10 Things I will miss the most about Waco
10. Mardel's (has been my treasured source of homeschooling materials)
9. Tex-Mex food(I'm lamenting fajitas at Ninfas and Rosas. sigh)
8. Target (there is no better/cleaner place to shop)
7. Wooded Acres HEB (back to sub-par grocery shopping)
6. Cameron Park Area including the zoo as well as the park itself
5. Barbecue (with onions, pickles and lots of sauce)
4. Iced Tea (not instant garbage on ice, I'm talking freshly brewed)
3. Getting free refills on beverages when eating out (in other places this is not a given)
2. The Y (I can't believe we didn't join sooner)
1. Being able to walk to all of our friends' houses. Talk about convenience.

Am I such a bear?
Should it be perhaps the bear that is insulted? "Am I as disgruntled as Clint in hot weather?"
i can't believe that Grackles didn't make your list.
Clint, the answer to your question is "YES." Sandy, nine months out of the year, 100 degree heat, really? C'mon, aren't you exaggerating just a bit. June, July, August, September, absolutely, but 100 degrees in May and October is very rare, and even if you count those months, that's only six. Anyway, we watched a special on TWC about weather in NW Washington & BC last night. Very interesting!
I did think about them, and believe me, I do think about them every time I go to HEB. While I am an avid bird lover, a gajillion black birds with the stinch they wield probably should have made the list.
"my life in the vine"....i like it! I anticipate your return to the blogosphere...and I am looking forward to it. love you. -maria
