Wednesday was the first day of school. This year is very different from previous first days because I am only teaching 3 classes. This frees me up for spending a lot more time with Ethan and Laurel; I am so thankful. As I was hustling about to get out the door and to school, I became aware that I was a little anxious and not walking in the Spirit. Now what I mean by walking in the Spirit is that consciousness that the Lord is inside of you and ready to tackle whatever situation may arise. When I recognize His presence I have an enormous peace and am ready to love others and endure hardships knowing He is doing it with me and being my supply. So as I am leaving I become aware of not "walking in Him" and realize that I really need to stop and be still a moment if I am serious about loving my kids at school. Because I was running late, I knew I didn't have a lot of time to devote to getting to that state of intimacy with the Lord, and I remembered a devotion book I had been trying to read daily. I quickly picked it up and found the reading for August 17. The moment I read the selection I knew I had touched the Lord and that He had picked out the very passage for me to read that day, knowing I needed to receive that message. I teared up for an instant, just long enough to soak in His goodness; then, I gathered my books and hurried to school thankful that I was being kept by Him. (Jude 1:1)
Here is the reading for that day:
...that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:19
Happy is the man who never leaves his room in the morning without definitely seeking and receiving the fullness of the Spirit. We shall be a good student in God's school because of the anointing which God gives him like fresh oil. It shall abide in him and teach him all things. Above all, Christ will teach him the secret of abiding fellowship with Himself. Whenever you are conscious of leakage or greater need, you need refilling. It may be that service has exhausted you and you have not received fresh spiritual supply. Some new avenue of ministry may have opened before you, or you discovered a fresh talent. Go again to the same source for a refilling, a recharging with spiritual power,a reanointing by the holy charisma. F.B. Meyer
What struck me most was the importance of beginning each day with Him. I was blessed by the image of oil running down over my head and what a beautiful picture of His love for me this is. I was also encouraged by His promise to teach me all things, which can be encompassed in His teaching us how to abide with Him. How He loves us! Thank You, Jesus for being our Teacher!
